Hollis from Arkansas has found her passion for pageants and is thriving. With multiple titles over the last 12 months, she has just won another state title on the Cinderella pageant circuit, competing against typical contestants. This latest win will see her compete in the Cinderella Internationals in Texas in July.
Her mom, Jackie, said, “Hollis is obsessed with pageants, her coach makes videos of routines for her, and she independently learns them. Her coach is so impressed with how fast she can pick up routines, without instruction, just a video.”
The pageant format means contestants need to be skilled in interviews, gown modeling, casualwear modeling, and a talent performance. Jackie added, “Hollis will not consider entering a competition unless it has more than one costume change and it has to be longer than one day!”
Jackie shared that because Hollis competes with typical children, she works incredibly hard. Her body isn't as naturally flexible as some of her peers', and her autism has meant really focusing on interview skills. Jackie loves that pageants not only make Hollis so happy, but they also keep her actively moving, learning, and interacting.
Jackie added, “She has an amazing memory for routines and remembers them all. She has a pageant coming up and has a brand-new talent where she is doing a tap routine to a Dolly Parton music mix, and has multiple other routines. I do not think she has ever missed a step onstage. Pageants have helped her thrive physically, emotionally, and socially. She LOVES them.”
Good luck, Hollis, with all your competitions! Everyone at MSF and our global Myhre community is cheering you on and is so proud of you!
